Director of Hitting Development & Infield Coordinator

Matt Nuzzo is an Everett, Massachusetts native and one of the most accomplished athletes in the city’s storied sports history. A standout two-sport athlete at Everett High School, Matt was a three-time All-Scholastic selection in both baseball and football, earning recognition as one of the top players in the state. As the starting quarterback for Everett High, he was named team captain and led the Crimson Tide with toughness and leadership.

Matt continued his athletic career at Brown University, where he played both varsity football and baseball for the Bears. As a middle infielder and third baseman, he developed into one of the Ivy League’s top hitters and defenders. His performance at Brown earned him a spot in the 2009 MLB Draft, where he was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 24th round.

Matt spent time in the Blue Jays’ minor league system as a professional third baseman, competing against some of the best talent in the country and gaining invaluable experience at the highest levels of the game. His professional playing career gave him elite-level knowledge of hitting mechanics, approach, and the mental side of competing under pressure.

As Director of Hitting Development, Matt oversees all hitting instruction across Canes New England programs. His approach is rooted in his professional experience—teaching players how to build consistent, repeatable swings, develop plate discipline, and compete with confidence in the batter’s box. He emphasizes the mental side of hitting: approach, adjustments, and the resilience required to succeed at the plate.

As Infield Coordinator, Matt brings his extensive experience as a middle infielder and third baseman to develop our players’ defensive skills, footwork, and baseball IQ. His coaching focuses on fundamentals, positioning, and the quick decision-making that separates good infielders from great ones.

Matt’s combination of high school, college, and professional experience—along with his deep Everett roots and commitment to player development—make him one of the most respected coaches on our staff and a mentor who truly understands what it takes to compete at every level.
